My main question is can I tie my (all autometer sport comp) tach light power wire to my oil light power wire, with my water gauge light power wire, and with them all sliced togther run one wire to the #13 fuse (dimmer) operating all three lights, or am I asking too much of that fuse????

Good stuff...one more question..I'm going to run a wire from the water gauge power post to the oil gauge power post, and with the two wires spliced together can I run this one wire (operating two gauges) to the #16 (horn cigarette lighter)fuse without any problems??? I know I'm a pain but I really need to know...wiring is not my thing.

just put a higher rated fuse in that port, like 5 more amps.

sorry VP, but i would NOT follow that advice. that is a recipe for having a fire, IMHO (remember that the stock wiring on that circuit is chosen from the load it sees and the fuse reflects that. one wants the fuse to blow before wires melt and ignite).

a gauge draws next to nothing, draw wise. a larger fuse should not be needed.

D - piggybacking wires should be fine (as long as you run something bigger than speaker wire). that is the way i run my wires. good luck and enjoy.

Jt as always thanks for the input, that goes for everyone else as well. I really didn't see the gauges pulling much current, but I figured I check just in case.

no prob Derek. another thing that i do like to do (and you do too probably) is put a small fuse (1 amp if i can find one, otherwise a 3 amp) on the 12 volt+ and light feed from the fusebox (and for lighting, fuse 13 or the dimmer or whatever your chosen source is). that way, should a problem arise in your wiring, it should not take out the dimmer fuse and your stock gauges' lighting. im sure you wiring is great - but i like to do things that way myself. also, should one of the other circuits [that you tapped power from] get a short, the little fuse would hopefully blow and be more gentle on thegauges and their wiring (rather than waiting for a bigger stock fuse to blow). just something i do.

enjoy the new gauges - one of the most satisfying things to do, IMHO. take care Derek.
