Electric noise back of car?

I swear this damn car is never gonna be right.

There is an electric whine coming from the back of my car??

Also

I was letting car run with hood popped cause I was messing with CAI and I noticed that the rubber tube that goes from CAI to the oil cap steam was popped off. Put it on and it popped back off rearranged it a lil and I reckon its ok now, but is this some kind of sign of pressure build up maybe?

I was thinkin that too. Can smell gas, but not sure if it was from exhaust

Read this on another forum

"What you are hearing is an air pump. It's the ECU checking the evaporative emissions system for leaks. The ECU will wait for several hours after the engine is turned off before running this test."

That sounds like a complete load of poop to me. It's your fuel pump whining, which means it's going to fail in the near future. You have to drop the fuel tank to change it. The fail safe way to keep it running is to never fill up your fuel tank all the way. Fuel pumps only fail when you have a full fuel tank.

I'd say 99.9 % that youre just hearing your fuel pump. Either the factory one is on its way out, or it may have been replaced. Walbro upgraded ones are notoriously noisy.

You probably just didn't get it on all the way on the first time.
Have you pulled out any your rear interior? With seats out you'll hear your fuel pump. I hear mine even with my seats in. Put your key in the ignition and turn it to on (not start). Do you hear the whine now? Turn key to off. Whine gone? If yes to both, fuel pump. Just because you hear it doesn't mean it's bad. Although, it does suck when the whine stops and your far from home.

That's funny!

Mine whines too. And when you have a blinker on or something you can hear it power draw. The sound gets just a little quieter with every blink. Then goes back to normal whine in between blinks. Although i've checked the alternator and it's fine.

Well it just started today, the whine stops when I press brake, or quiets down a lot

Its because the current is being drawled by the brake lights.

You can slightly hear mine whining here... the fuel pump quit like 2 weeks later...

Seriously, it's not that big of a deal. Even a performance fuel pump, like a 255lph isn't that expensive, well under $200. And it's something you're going to need if you want to do any future mods. A stock one is under $100. Takes a couple of hours to swap it out. No biggie.

Sounds like you should do a fuel pump re-wire. Ill be doing a re-wire on mine in a month or two, ill make a how-to and post it up.

mine has whined since the day I bought it. Sounds just like my walbro in my fox. Havent pulled it to check and see yet.

Not sure if I've got the same problem or not--OP described it as an "electric noise". Others described a fuel pump as a "whine". I know what a fuel pump priming sounds like. That's not what I'm chasing.

I've always had a sound like stereo speakers cranked way up with no music going through them (not static like off a radio station, just kinda sounding like an open mike or feed with no input). Does it even with the stereo powered off. With both the factory head unit and the aftermarket I installed.

Is the stereo sound I've been looking for actually some sort of feedback off the fuel pump?
