Some people say that a mechanical oil pressure guage is more accurate. An advantage of a mech. guage is the full 270 degree range of the needle. An electric guage only has a 90 degree swing. However, I feel that the electrical guage is easier to hook up (thats what I have in my car.) Hope this helps!

Since AutoMeter came out with the full sweep electrical gauges that look like mechanicals, I see no reason to run a mechanical anymore. I ran one in my last car, and it only took one time of the fitting loosening up and oil on the interior to convince me of that. There is no accuracy difference, either.

If you've ever had a mechanical gauge line break inside your car you wouldn't be asking this question. It make a big mess. Stick with electric, you won't be sorry.

Except you can buy 3 mechanical gauges for the cost of 1 of these.

I went mechanical because i wanted full sweep. I know the deal with the oil line breaking. I used the copper line for now but plan on using some stainless steel line soon.
