electric sanders for fine grit jobs???

i want to paint some parts on the car and have been curious about sanders. you hear all the time about d.a.'s and wet sanding, is there any electric sander i can use when doing the prep work and like 400 grit? i dont mind wet sanding the final product by hand, getting out orange peel and whatnot, but i would love it if i could make the prep easier. i just dont think my little 3 gallon compressor would survive with a d.a.

Ya your 3 gallon wouldnt run a d.a. for 5 minutes. It would be so slow it wouldnt sand for poo.

thats what i figured, and i imagine the damn compressor would run constantly which would give me a headache, thats why im curious about using an electric. oh, and i tried harbor freight's website and its a no-go.
