Well we got my car cranking the other day but it took having to jump the starting circuit... There is also a buzzing/clicking from the ccrm... It also keeps dumping fuel so we pulled the fuel pump fuse and the clicking was gone... I installed grounds but the CCRM isnt mounted to anything... its just hanging right now... Im just hoping i didnt mess up repinning a connector when i was extending wires or something.

Well we know the car mechanically will crank so i guess diag has to start here... Have main power at the starter we are not getting power to the trigger wire...

NO POWER AT THE STAR....

Odd thing is we added power to wire 33 going in to the relay... and no changing relay didn't click either.... Weird...

We swapped relays and that wasnt the problem... im going to try to get this running on spring break next week... just wanted to make sure its not something obvious.

Any info or ideas for diag would be awesome. thanks in advance

it looks like (since i have a 5 speed i only have the far left of the circuit...)

Im thinking check for power at ignition switch... then at clutch switch and go from there...

How did you jump the starter relay? Does the Red wire have constant 12V?
Are you sure the ground for the starter relay was not disturbed? You might wanna ohm it out real quick (look for less than 5 Ohms).

Otherwise, I agree. Check in/out cranking voltage at the clutch switch.

Im pretty sure it has a decent ground... hooked meeter to battery and touched the round and got a 12.5v reading... didnt ohm it out ill try that next.

We jumped that right side of the relay... if we added power on the trigger wire however by squeezing a wire up with the relay and applying 12 volts no dice... something odd here...

the tach was also going hay wire...

any chance you know where the ground ends up off hand im sure i could stare at the evtm for an hour and find it but your better then me at this lol

thanks again for your help

Hey guys.

Doing some more testing with chris

We have power with key in start out of the ignition switch at wire 33 (w/pink)

it was cut coming out of the ignition switch and taped we are resoldering it now.

Howevwe when we hold it together and go to start we have power at C218... but not at the clutch switch... and it doesent look like there is any connections between the 2. any thoughts?

thanks,
adam

Ok we have power and trigger power to the relay now. When we add a direct ground to the relay we have cranking so its something on the ground side.

EDIT: Found the bad ground thing is cranking with key to start now.... Next we are on to CCRM fuel pump clicking issue so please check back!

OK here is where we stand. Ground pin 15 is showing weak like with the testlight hooked to power on the battery. Cut the harness and gave direct battery ground to pin 15 (wire 570) g104 and now we have nore more CCRM clicking so its some where on that ground circuit....

Page 10-3 in your EVTM hissin if your following along. So the problem lies in a bad g104, bad connection at c113, c109 or at s105

sorry for spelling issues or miss types on weird wavy shaped keyboard.

CCRM buzz was a miss pin causing a bad ground at C113

no spark as of right now... Now chasing that issue

Ok i have power to both sides of the coil... but the coil is not hot... is this a coil issue?

How are you testing power and ground to the coil? If there really is power to both terminals, the coil will not energize. This would not be the coil's fault (the TFI output to the coil should be a ground, not 12V).

Test light hooked to ground. Probe both sides of the coil and get light. the red wires on the oneside and the tan on the other.

Crank and test coil out. (inline with wire hooked to ditsy still) and nada

Also i started a more electrical help im not getting injector pulse either i assume this issue is related.

Im trying to look at the evtm and see how these circuits are related to find out if its another ground issue or something is there anything i can test at the "hall effect sensor" which i guess is just the connection to the ditsy?

looks to me like injectors get power from pin 12 and 24 on the ccrm. we pulled the ccrm and tested the pins today....

Power at pins (6,10,11,13)
Ground at (1,2,5,6,7, weak ground now fixed at 15)

Looks like the PCM is grounded at g201 inside pass kick panel guess it wouldnt hurt to check there and it looks like the haul effect sensor connects to the pcm so a bad ground or power on pcm may cause this issue??? Not sure just talking out my ass.

But either way it looks to me like the PCM is the next stop for testing? or is it back to the CCRM?

test light clamped to ground backprobing red/green wire have power. backprobing tan/brown wire have power. both nothing with key off, power with key on.

removed coil to disty wire. clamped test light to coil nipple, put probe into coil disty wire (put the test light inline). on cranking, no test light illumination at all. the case of the coil is grounded well I was using the bolts for the coil as the ground source for the clamp.

I don't think we should be seeing power on the tan wire I think that is supposed to be a ground signal as it goes/comes from the ICM according to the EVTM

An unenergized coil could show floating voltage on the negative side. If you bias a test light across the two terminals in the coil's electrical connector and crank it, the test light should flash.

The ground signal to the coil should come from the TFI module. There is also a leg for the IDM (that goes to the EEC).

Does terminal 2 on the TFI show a ground pulse while cranking?
Does TFI terminal 4 show 12 V while cranking?

We'll check this first thing Monday morning when we get back to the car. Thanks for the input.

Due to the mispin of the wiring, I also suggested he go and check the CCRM pin by pin and assure everything is where it's supposed to be. Since the ICM is in the same fenderwell and also got extended, I suggested that next.
