Let me start off with explaining what I am currently doing with the car. I am completely replacing/refurbishing the interior in my 1988 5.0 Coupe. So, that being said I had the whole interior ripped out of the car, dash and all. At that time I also replaced the whole front light assemblies (housings).

Now to the problem. None of my lights work. Guage cluster lights don't work, headlights don't work, and the turn signals don't work. The tail lights do not come on when I turn on the headlight switch, however do come on when I step on the brake.

What I have done testing wise. I have checked all the fuses. I thought maybe it was the headlight switch, but the relay under the dash clicks when you flip that switch and the turn signals should work if it was only the headlight switch.

So, what I am thinking is that I have a bad ground. Am I on the right track? If so, where would this ground be found?

Thanks,

Chris

Lights have no single ground point: each light assembly has either a short pigtail ground wire or is grounded to the circuit board they are mounted in.

You need to check the light circuits with a voltmeter. As you can see several of the light circuits use fuseable links.

Here's a list of sites with diagrams for the electrical equipment. The first one is very good.

In addition to Jrichker's fine post.............in case it helps, there is no stock headlight or parking light relay in stock form (that I'm aware of anyhow). I might investigate that further.

Those links posted above will really help you out.

Good luck.
