While driving for about a quarter mile, everything quit suddenly while accelerating. The positive battery terminal and post were melted in half. I have replaced both battery cables, the battery, and the starter solenoid (on firewall). The starter is about 2 years, 8,000 miles old. Now when connected, the starter makes a loud "pop" as soon as the negative terminal is touched to the negative battery post. Then nothing, still no power to the rest of the car. A few seconds later, something smelled like "electrical gone wrong". I disconnected it immediately and now I am not sure where to go. What do you think?

Definitely sounds like something is shorting the positive terminal of the battery to ground. Check all the starter connections and wires. You said this just happened randomally while driving?
