I went down to the parts counter at the ford dealership on my lunch today and tried to pick up a PCV valve. The guy told me that the part is $46 because the 2004 mustangs use an electronic PCV valve. I was expecting something around $9-$15 for the part.

Can someone confirm the part number he gave me (EV-261) is correct and tell me if the price sounds right?

Yes, I have heard of that type of PCV valve before and yes it is very expensive. Sucks that your car has that type. Make sure yours is actually in need of replacement before you shell out that kind of coin.

Well mine is actually working fine still. I just thought it would be a good maintenance thing to do. Sounds like i'm going to keep it until I see some type of problem with it.

Wow I've never heard of anything like that before. Maybe you can find the specs of the PCV and the voltage it's suppose to put out. Then you can check it with a voltometer.

I found the same thing when I replaced mine. The guy at the counter said "they must be really proud of this one".

the newer ones use a Pre-heated PCV, for some reason FoMoCo thinks the PCV valve can stick/freeze in colder climates. this has been a problem way back to the mid 90's Escorts, I have never seen this happen but I don't live near the Arctic circle. you should be able to supstitute a non heated one in its place, unless you live near the arctic?

I just replaced mine on my '03 gt this weekend. You can substitute the cheaper non-heated one . You are in Arizona and should have no problems with freezing... I think.

I am in Phoenix, I think it would be more likely to melt than freeze! Anybody have the part number for the non-heated version?

I think you can use D9ZZ-6A666-A which is the Ford part # or EV-98-B which is the Motorcraft part # and price is @$9.00
