Hey everyone! I have a 1993 foxbody, and whenever the emergency brake is used
(even if it’s just slightly pulled up or moved) the car won’t start. I turn the key and nothing. Doesn’t try to crank almost as if there is no power to the car at all. I pull the positive cable off for 20-30minutes, and then put it back on, and it turns on like nothing. Not a pressing issue, and as long as I don’t look at the emergency brake it’s fine, but just wanting to see if anyone had had this problem or has any advice. Thank you!

The parking brake does tie into the ignition switch in 1993. My guess is this issue has something to do with the ignition switch itself or perhaps the DRL shorting plug.

Learned something

Well, it doesn't make sense to me though. When you turn the key to start, a path to ground gets closed which just allows the bulb to illuminate to perform the bulb check process.

It shouldn't prevent the vehicle from starting which is why i'd have to take a better look at the ignition switch in general
