about 2 weeks ago i washed my engine. right afterwards the engine was running really rough. i've given it some time to fix itsself and it would misfire and run rough randomly, and other times it would run fine.

well today it was running really rough and the SES light came on and i took it to autozone to read it and it said "misfire cylinder 5" so i replaced the cop plugboot and that didnt fix it, so i replaced the other 7 plugboots, that didnt help either.

Whenever i unplug a cop at idle, the car will run dramaticly worse than it usually is, same thing when i unplug an injector.

what would cause a misfire like i'm describing if its not a cop or injector going out? the cop on #5 could be bad, but wouldnt it act the same when i unplug it while its running?

Did you check and/or replace the spark plug?

Yes. If you haven't applied dielectric grease on those COP boots in a while, then it can happen.
