So this may be a dumb question but no smart a** replies please I'm here for help. If you were to change something, like the throttle body or larger exhaust pipes, would you have to get your car tuned to accommodate the change? All the cars I've ever messed with were pre 80s so it was all mostly mechanical and straight forward. I have a 2001 with cai but looking to upgrade a little more and just need to know if I have to get the car adjusted to read correctly.

For mods that will increase airflow by marginal amounts you probably won't need a tune. Or if you do get one it will be for "optimizing" rather than because the car is running badly.

For most driving conditions fueling is closed-loop (using feedback from the oxygen sensors) and so the system will automatically adjust. For WOT the MAF sensor is telling the ECM how much air is entering the engine and the injector pulse will be computed correctly.

If you do some minor mods and top it all off with a proper dyno tune I don't think you'll be disappointed but don't expect big gains.
