hey,

Just got my 96 gt, 5sd back from the ford dealer for its 90k service. The tech said it needed new light bulbs here and I have a radiator leak (not bad enough that I noticed but I will get it replaced) however, the tech also said when he drove it he felt a miss/hesitation. I did some research and its possible it could be the weak battery causing the hesitation. What could this be?

that shouldve been done at the 90k service. make sure the plugs were changed, sometimes they dont do that on the 90k service unless you request it.

'should've' being the key word. i personally don't trust anyone (well VERY few people) & always double check peoples work IF they touch my car

*that & i misread the 90k service thing :D *

90 k service is different at every dealer. ours includes.

oil change
coolant flush
air,fuel filters and pcv valve
tire balance and rotate.
alignment pays 5.0 hours too the tech and costs 399.95 our 30k and 60k are the same

we sell a plug change seperate if needed.

yea mine was $185.00 , included, oil and filrer change, fuel filter change, lube steerage, suspension & driveshaft, and a bunch of inspection. I feel cheated! How much do you guys charge for a plug and wire change?

well they'll end up charging you alot & that's a job that you can definately do yourself. on my last 98gt the plug wires alone were around $100, so i can only imagine what ford is gunna charge

Yea, you're right. I need to start trying some small jobs myself, I'm just worried I'll mess something up (even a small job) but with ford doing this job on me I will def consider it. The funny thing is that the tech knows way my engine is hesitating but instead of telling me what it is, he wants me to come back in and have a dianostic test, just to tell me "oh your battery and/or wires and plugs is the problem"

to quote someone from another forum - roughly - "80% of this stuff is having the balls to take it apart" :nice: go get a haynes manual or something similar & go at it. when i started working on cars i didn't know hardly anything. only way you can learn is getting elbow deep in some grease :D & if it come to it, put it back together & take it to ford. & of course if you have questions just post them up here & see if we can help you some
