Got the car on the rack today due to the vibration from a stop and found out that my engine mounts are toast. The engine is sitting lower on the passenger side which is throwing things off without a doubt.

Now I looked this up in the book while there and it's classified as a 2.7 hr job to swap them out so i'm going to call around tomorrow and see what some will charge to do this.

What engine mounts should I purchase? Any certain type? I'm going to also need to do my transmission mount, though that won't be a problem.

Hey, what symptoms were you experiencing with the shot motor mounts?

What brand do you suggest? I was thinking that I wouldn't have to spend the big bucks, but as long as I got poly that i'd be alright

As far as symptoms go.. Only from a stop while taking off slow or regularly I get a vibration which isn't really rough, though it's definitly there. It only happens from a dead stop and when taking off slow. I made a post about it when it first started to get worse http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=647787 as I figured it was the universal joints.

I know it might sound odd for me to have thought that, though since the engine is "bouncing" when slowly taking off it's throwing everything else off.

Interesting indeed ... my car is 'vibrating' also from a dead stop. It isn't terrible or anything but I thought my clutch was going bad or somethin'.

Probably a stupid question: How do you check your motor mounts?

I could tell by just looking at mine that they were totally gone. The passenger side one had a little bit of oil on it and I guess thats what made it give way.

As for looking at them.. I guess you could view them from going up on ramps or anything such as that, though I have a family member that works at a local Dodge dealership and brought it to him and we put it on the lift so we could walk all under the car to see what was going on. While there, I talked to their gear tech and he told me he'd install gears for $75-$100 for me.

What should I expect to pay for some new motor mounts? The cheaper the better of course

Links would be great

I think the guy who did my mounts charged about 400. I'm not sure though because it was an insurance claim after I was rear ended. He did say it was a pain to do.

The symptoms of my bad mounts was a vibration once the car was started. It stayed steady until you got up to about 30mph then went away.

I'm hoping for it to be cheaper than the $120, I guess I need to look around and see what I can find. Anything is better than factory broken ones

I forgot to mention what happens when the car cranks. It cranks up pretty rough due to the passenger mount being toast.

Well I'm pushing 140K miles so it's expected for this to be the case for me. Parts like this are going to wear down eventually and I guess I should have thought about this problem sooner

Just brake check the next tailgaiter you come across. Might ding up you bumper but you can claim it broke the engine mounts.

They'd total my POS

After looking at prices of some of these kits, I'm leaning towards the maximum motorsport solid motor mounts. $70 for them and MM has great quality products and not many will argue with that statement.

Anyone see a problem with that?

i wouldnt go solid at all unless its a straight drag car. it would vibrate the car like crazy and probably start to twist your chassis. stay away from solids.

Well thats good info then

I'm looking to get the parts as cheap as possible. Just need to fix this asap before it leads to more problems. I'll even go with a factory mount if needed.

Any clue where to look for CHEAP mounts? I don't want to pay $119+ for a pair
