If it is with a stock radio then I say check the factory grounding points. If you have a aftermarket system, then either check the grounds or the rca cables running to the back are next to your power wire or your seat is pinching them and that is grounding it out. Might be just a start.

I agree with 5.0 from 95. Grounding points for stock system is almost a sure thing if it is stock. Along with making sure signal wires are routed down the opposite side of the car that the power wire is routed. (rule of thumb: power should go down driver side and signal wires down passenger side). I just give this as a rule of thumb if your power cable is entering through the firewall on this side. And as im sure you know, never run any wires down the center of the car. Noise from the driveshaft will surely bleed into wires run there, unless your running very well insulated cables.

I have a similar problem with my car (stock Mach460 + CD changer + 2 10" subs run off of speaker level inputs)

My problem only happens maybe 40% of the time. It sounds like a humming noise that comes thru the speakers, and the humming is independant of radio volume. I can turn the radio volume to zero, and the buzzing sounds the same as it does if the volume is really loud. The only way the buzzing stops is if the radio is tuned off. Also, the buzzing's frequency is directly proportional to engine RPM. So I'm guessing it has something to do with a bad ground, and the altternator maybe. ???

I had issues like this with my old stereo before replacement. I had it grounded in the trunk of my car underneath the carpet kit there. To fix the issue I went back to that ground and scraped all the paint to make sure there was a bare paintless spot and wrenched the ground back down on this spot. Voila, no more engine whine in my stereo.

Yeah, check the connections to your spark plugs also. A loose one will create a lot of static.

You may want to try a set of brand new spark plugs. If they are stock, the insulation may have worn down to the point that one is "leaking". :rlaugh: Too tired to be grammatically correct.

I would get a set of aftermarket ones though, not just stock replacement. Might eliviate the situation.

I have same problem about 30%
My buddy who is sound man told me I need one of those filters or whatever they call that, it hook up between AMP and speakers or CD and speakers

And yes I runing Panasonic CD playar with big AMP and just two 10s in trunk, darn trunk in Verts ,can't put anything bigger than 10s

check your ground, battery, and altinator. Cheap wires can get distortion very easy and pick up signals from other electrical things in your car. I think the term is called "Altinator Wine." Try a High end after market battery or a higher output altinator

same exact problem here, but I don't have no stinking subs :D I did get a new wiring harness though, so I could add a previously stolen CD player to my mach 460, and after I did that, instead of about 70% of the time getting the noise, now only about 20%, and if it is there, it's quieter than it was... but it's still there

-I've checked all my grounds, on all wires (in engine, and cab) along w/ the sparkplugs, alt, and speakers. although, I did notice that my radio antena is broken off of the connection to the radio, this couldn't cause it, could it?? (I have several spare radio antena cables lying around :D)

Try this, tap on the drivers kick panel, by the dead pedal. If should go away or change tones. There is a ground behing the kick panel and some ele connections. Remove the kick panel & tighten the 2 grounds there. Also check the ele connectors there, mine would not stay tight, so I used tye wraps to keep it together. Sometimes I still get the engine whin through the radio sometimes, especially when it is wet outside it gets worse. I just tap the kick panal till it goes away.

I got the exact same problem as scott 94 gt. it seems that a ton of us have radio problems. maybe we should ask to have some well thought out and correct diagnosis/repairs and info put into the sticky at the top of the forum....

Ground the antenna at the junction underneath the glove box; ground it to the glove box support frame. I used a 1/4" alligator clamp and a small length of wire and this fixed it once and for all.
I also tried new FRPP wires (9mm?), changing the engine ground strap, and swapping the radio interference cap on the coil, fiddling with the antenna mounting base at the fender, as well as various inspections and jiggles. Sometimes disconnecting the battery will work, but only temporarily.
Hope this helps!

P.S. All stock Mach460...

haha yea, i have a sony Xplod HU and I only get it on AM bands, it is the strongest on 1710 AM, the whine corresponds with engine revs, me and my friend thought it was funny and dubbed it "the AM supercharger" he has a 98 GT with a mach 460 and has the same problem, so apparently its not just our cars
