First off I'd like to thank everybody that was nice enough to help me diagnose and fix my engine bug. I need to get my spark wires replaced as they're leaking voltage and causing an intermittent miss, I should then be good to go - as far as my engine is concerned at least
Now my AOD is giving me hell. I remember that before I decommissioned the car a couple of years back the tranny was mostly fine. Only problem was it would take a ~10-15 seconds to engage first when cold but that's about it. I drove it once for 20 miles or so after I put the new engine in (while it was belching obscene black smoke), and the tranny was okay, but was starting to act a little nutty. I put a bottle of tranny conditioner in it and parked the car for a couple of weeks while we were figuring out the engine/black smoke problems that beset the car. Well anyway, after we figured out what the (engine) problem was I fired the car up for the first time. It just so happened to be in neutral at the time and it took off by itself. Further examination showed that all gears were drive - even park. You can feel the car wanting to take off while in park. R is neutral. No reverse. My mechanic figured that the valves in the valve body must be seized/clogged-up, so out came the tranny oil pan and the valve body, and sure enough 2-3 of the valves were clogged up. We unseized them, gave the whole thing a good cleaning, replaced the filter and ATF and fired it back up again, only to find nothing's changed. My mechanic told me to drive it a little and see if anything happens. I did and it didn't change. The car takes off in second gear, and shifts to 4th, or at least that's what I think it does.
As always, any suggestions as to what's going on here would be most helpful. Also, a hydraulic diagram of the AOD would very much come in handy. I just want to get this thing up and running reasonably well so I can drive the car around for a while. I've got a complete T5 conversion setup, but I was planning on doing the swap later...
