Engine pull was successful

Well my first engine pull was actually a piece of cake - I had to rent a truck and a hoist to do the work, but was pretty cheap.

I decided to do as much of the pull by myself which ended up being the whole job. It was pretty easy. I pulled the engine and tranny together in the driveway since it was a nice day, that way the ceiling of my garage wouldnt get in the way. Once pulled, move the car, backed up the truck and dropped her in.

One BIG BIG BIG thing I've learned though is - NEVER EVER TRUST SOMEONE ELSES WORK ON A CLASSIC - Please view the last image with the circles over the bolts - that was how loose the bolts were on the engine mounts. Pretty scary I must say. Not to mention everybolt that I've pulled off this car was not the correct one, or matching to others when they should be the same. Now Im no mechanic, but even I know when something is done wrong.

Well here are some pics - I wish I had more for you guys, but since I was a one man show I couldnt very well stop when the engine was way up in there air and start shooting.. I also threw in a shot of my temporary rims - the 35th aniv. rims - NO spacers on there yet, but they are just there so I can roll my car around. The do look pretty good on there though.

Thanks to all that have answered questions to allow me to actually do this type of job. It is truely amazing what you can learn on the web. All you need is a little confidence and patients.

Tomorrow morning I head up north to pic up my new 351W engine. Man I cant wait. Gonna be a screamer. I had a guy build it up real nice, with plenty of power. I was told due to the cam that is going in there I'd need at least a 3K converter - so I guess it's pretty aggresive.

thanks for the input guys - yeah those bolts were that loose.... I did end up getting my engine today - think looks so perdy... Im going to wait to post up some pics after I finish painting it. Im going to go with a nice gloss black - Im still debating on gloss or satin for the bay though. I really like how the stain looks, and I think the gloss engine will contrast nicely - but i worry about the cleaning part.
