you are going to need a forged bottom end, and good one too. you are looking at around 3-5k for just the shortblock. you will need a centrifugal blower (dont think the KB 2.2 can put out the power for those times.. but dont quote me) or a turbocharger... look into around 5-7k for that depending on which route you take. the TT setup from modular powerhouse will get you there, and so would the paxton novi 2000 blower. you will need a lot of boost, and a lot of power.
you will need to replace the transimition. TKO 600 at the bare minimum if not T56 or an AODE tranny. there are also build T5 transmitions from companies out there as well.
you will need either a spool rear end, or at the very least something along the lines of an auburn pro or eaton posi for your differential. at the least 31 spline axles. an aluminum driveshaft as well will be needed.
clutch will need to be fairly high end if you go for manual, if AODE then you are looking at around 2500-3000 stall on the TC.
and then there is the suspension. prolly want to be running drag springs and lakewood shocks, if not air bags. LCAs, and probably UCAs. also dont forget the roll cage.
get the roll cage, and LCAs/UCAs first, follow that with the suspension and rear end, get your power adder and run it at low boost and cap around 400 HP. follow that up with a shortblock and raise the power to around 500, get the tranny and driveshaft and be ready to start breaking parts as you raise the power output.
i am not a drag guy, not building my car that way, but these are just the basics of what needs to be done. of course there are more details invoved, but i gave the highlights.
