The engine used to cut out when I would push in the clutch while slowing down every once in a while, like once every 3 or more days. Now it just dies all the time, especially after I first start it up, and it even dies when Im just driving normally down the road. It eventually will run for a sustained period but will still die when Im comming to a stop or sometimes when I turn a corner. The TPS and IAC are new. Everything was actually running fine before I fixed my power steering leak on sunday, but I think thats just a coincidence. I tryed pulling codes and I didn't get anything.

Any insite is greatly appriciated.

I just cleared what codes the computer was showing and I cleaned the IAC. So far it has been runing like it used to. Alittle idle surging but it didn't die. I guess we'll see how it runs tomorrow.

If it still gives you trouble, check out the surging idle checklist sticky at the top of the 5.0 tech forum.

I would treat this type of problem as a surging idle problem, even if the idle doesn't actually surge.

It wasn't close to a surging idle. I figured it out. I have all autometer gauges in my gauge cluster and the speedo cable poped off the back of the speedo and pulled the tach wire out, causing the coil to ground out. So I pushed the speedo cable back in and pushed the tach wire bach up in the connector. I'll find a better way to fix it later. But for now its working fine.

Thanks anyway, solved my own problem.

Sheesh, that was an odd one. I had read this earlier and decided to think a little before posting. Boy, that would have been like 1,522,234 on my list of causes. :D

Glad you got it!

LOL, I had no idea either untill I saw the tach start trippin out, i tapped on the face of it and the needle would jump like it was barely contacting the connector. So I shook the wires under the dash and it started working lol, then I pulled the cluster out and found the problem.
