When it stops pulling you are in the 5800 to 6200 RPM range, depending on the set up.

If you know your rear gear ratio, tire size, and have an accurate speedometer it can be calculated.

There are like 5 million dwell meters on ebay for cheap and some are brand new.

Get a friend that is or use to be a sonar teck for the Navy. I had a friend in collage that could stand near a car and tell you the rpm’s to plus or minus 50 rpm as measured with an optical tach. On every car we tried it on. Damndest thing I ever saw.

Yea, that is kinda how I torque my bolts - tighten 'till they strip and then back off half a turn.

So, I need a dwell meter, an ex sonar tach, and just run it till it blows. Sounds like fun.

you could just floor it and hold the gas pedle down till the exhaust manifold turns red. At least you knew it could make it that far without pinging ::

I think I have the idle set where it needs to be. I wanted to be able to verify the engine RPM since my tach doesn't currently work. I picked up an engine analyzer on the way home tonight that will show me the engine RPM.
