engine stroking

To turn a stock 302 into a 331 or a 347 what is involved. If i bought the stroker kit what would i still need to do? Will I need a knew block ro can i use that one? Do i need to bore it out or is it just the crankshaft that makes the difference? I would like to know everything involved in stroking an engine please.

For a 331 or 347 you can use your stock block. It will need to be bored .030" over. For my 347, I also had to have the cylinder skirts cut in a few places for connecting rod clearance. I don't know if this is the case for all stroker kits, however.

the .030 overbore is not required, but if you're rebuilding why wouldn't you? some guys will just give it a hone to save money as long as the pistons are still in good shape. and yes, to my knowledge ALL 347's need the block clearanced for the connecting rods.

I think it would be a better idea to go with something w/ a standard bore as long as everything is still in good shape, like a 342 so that way once you grenade it you can just bore it out get new pistons and have a 347.

yes, you have to bore it also once you build it i would give it a girdle/windage tray these things together will keep your block strong once you get up in the 600 with your stock block.My main girdle/windage tray is comeing from dss monday that MOFO is 3/4" thick plus the windage tray i dont think i am gonna worry when i beat the 'Kiss Me''Kiss Me''Kiss Me''Kiss Me' outta it at the tract for that 10-sec time slip i am looking for with this set-up.Also get it balanced.
