Will the 2.3L n/a engine in my 85 lx fit into an 82 lx hatchback.

I haven't seen the car, but some guy just pulls up next to me while im working on mine and says hey, iv'e got an 82 looks better than ur's. There's no engine in it and it's urs for 100-150?????? says that with the 50 bucks difference??????

SO anyways, i was wondering if it would fit. I think he said the original engine was a 302 but then the guy previous to him put a 6 cylinder in it. I dunno though.

If your interested what i was working on, a few days ago i was going to my parents house for a birthday party. About 2 blocks away the pipe to my mufler brakes and the front end of the mufler starts dragging. So i go the two blocks and stop, but before i shut off the car i notice the air is off and the radio. So i'm thinking, um.... crap. Now no electricity is going inside of the car, NONE, including headlights, brakes, anything that would involve something inside the car. So i used a pair of vise grips to jump the car off the solenoid, from battery to starter and with the key in the on position it ran. So i drove it home, temp, oil pressure, and spedometer worked, only those though. I was gettin ready to pull the dash when he came up.
I've almost given up on this one .
Will my engine fit? I'm thinkin so but wouldnt like to be wrong. If the car is prettier i'll get it then

It'll all fit. You'll be swapping a bunch of stuff from the '85 to the '82 to get it all working right (unless you have a carb setup for it.)

I don't think you have to take the computer out, but I could be wrong. I'm only 15 years old!

change in plans

So i went to look at the car today. First thoughts, laugh my ass off. Closer inspection, the doors on both sides are better than mine, driver side has a dent but easy fix(friends dad owns paint shop ) I'm thinking that swapping body parts onto mine is a better than doing engines(the entire driver side floor board is rusted through. Tail lights intact(both mine cracked), hood has mustang emblem on it . Lights are same on both right?

Question, isn't the front piece(fenders and bumper) one piece? Either way mine are rusted and his aren't. The sunroof is in one piece which was surprising, it's sitting in a barn where the roof came down and landed on the car(still on it). Dented the back of the very top perty amount. 2 beastly lookin 3-way 6x9 come with it(don't know exact watts or if they work but IF they do it's a plus).

Then the dash, wooden panels(ohh yes), I doubt the gauges were factory, white backs with blue(and looked like red too) lights on the numbers and needle(i think).

If I find a spot to store the car im going to buy it soon for the parts. He says the automatic transmission was brand new only used for 1 week til he raced the car and blew the crap out of his 6cyl. engine. (everything under the hood was layered with oil, thick layer) So i would be re-selling the tranny if i do get the car incase anyone in interested. Just post.
wish me luck

It looked so but i wanted a vote of confidentiality, will the whole dash drop out of the 82 and into my 85? Mines cracked and messed, his was cleaner, even with the years of dirt on it. I've never done this kinda swapping, my heater core is blown too, anyone know if they used the same? i'll see if i cant tell by lookin at autozones' site.

Is the front piece driver and passenger side fenders one piece with the bumper? will they bolt right in from the 82 to 85? Again mines crapped out and his looks nicer, plus would match the doors. I'm about to search forums for sunroof addins but anyone who reads got any tips on this either?

(main questions)
will dash convert?
Heater core?
Front fenders and front bumper?
Moving sunroof?
