They will all fit, so go with a 351W for the most power.

my plans for this car is to get into the 12s at the most. I dont really want it 2 be a drag car but want it to have power when the pedle goes down.

302 will be the easiest. it has the largest aftermarket and I'm sure mounts and all the hardware can be found fairly easily.

in a 67-70 the 351w is an easy swap since it came as an option in 1969. you can use headers from a 69 351w stang, the 351w also uses the same 6 bolt bellhousing as the 289/302. it also bolts to the stock 67 V8 mounts. for what you want i think the 351w is the better choice. you can make more power more easily, and with less stress on the engine overall.

my car has the Inline 6 so how much will i have to change? In which situation would a 289 be good? And which situation would a 302 be a good choise?

things to change;

transmission
driveshaft
rear end
brakes
radiator

these all need to be upgraded to V8 pieces. i would recommend springs as well, but they can be done at a later date as money becomes available. you dont need to change spindles as the l6 andV8 spindles were the same starting in 67.

as for the 289 or 302 choice, first there isnt much difference between them regarding power output, the 302 will make a bit more power, and have a slightly fatter torque curve, but the 289 will make more power on the top end as well as get better fuel economy with similar modifications. if economy more than perofrmance is your goal, then choose the 289 or the 302 over the 351w. if power more than economy, then the 351w is the better choice.

How much 'tighter' is the 351 in the engine bay? Will that be a consideration for him? I've been told by some that the little bit of space made a big difference w/ regards to how user-friendly it was to work on the car.

302 all the way!

The later 302 is the way to go!
I see all these guys with there 351w and only getting 300hp!
get a 302 roller, your choice of aftermarket or ford heads. Plenty of room for headers and suspension mods. There is a reason the Boss 302 and Z28 camaros were so popular. Perfect power to weight ratio.!

390 bored .030 over and a 4.25 Scat crank with 6.7 rods will net you 445 cubes, top it with a set of Stage 2 Edelbrock heads and a Victor intake should get you above 500hp/500tq given the right cam.

The stroker kit runs about $1600-$1700 and includes the crank, rods and pistons, I think that's comperable to a SBF stroker kit. The Stage 2 heads run about $2200 which is close to SBF Stage 2 heads, the untouched Edelbrock heads run about $1200, again, around the same as SBF aluminum heads, if fact, the FE head is Edelbrock's 5th best seller. All other machine work will be comperable to doing any engine. But you do need to find a machinest that is familiar with the FE, there are some oiling mods that need to be made that will help the engine out a lot, mainly restricting the oil to the heads. Think about this, the FE head has shaft mounted rockers factory (like the Hemi), all the high $$$ SBF drag and NASCAR engines have shaft rockers.

You could order a '67 with a FE so there are parts available to put them in, it's a tight fit, but it fits. Just about everything you'd have to do to change from a 6 to a SBF you'll have to do to a FE so the rest is about a wash. Probably the biggest thing you'll get out of it benefit-wise is the wow factor when you open the hood and people see the big block. It'll only be marginally more nose heavy, maybe 40-50 lbs over an iron headed SBF.

Most people on here will tell you just to stroke a 351w to 427 and be done with it and forget about the dinosaur engine, I sorta like to be different I guess.
