The stroker kit runs about $1600-$1700 and includes the crank, rods and pistons, I think that's comperable to a SBF stroker kit. The Stage 2 heads run about $2200 which is close to SBF Stage 2 heads, the untouched Edelbrock heads run about $1200, again, around the same as SBF aluminum heads, if fact, the FE head is Edelbrock's 5th best seller. All other machine work will be comperable to doing any engine. But you do need to find a machinest that is familiar with the FE, there are some oiling mods that need to be made that will help the engine out a lot, mainly restricting the oil to the heads. Think about this, the FE head has shaft mounted rockers factory (like the Hemi), all the high $$$ SBF drag and NASCAR engines have shaft rockers.
You could order a '67 with a FE so there are parts available to put them in, it's a tight fit, but it fits. Just about everything you'd have to do to change from a 6 to a SBF you'll have to do to a FE so the rest is about a wash. Probably the biggest thing you'll get out of it benefit-wise is the wow factor when you open the hood and people see the big block. It'll only be marginally more nose heavy, maybe 40-50 lbs over an iron headed SBF.
Most people on here will tell you just to stroke a 351w to 427 and be done with it and forget about the dinosaur engine, I sorta like to be different I guess.
