ok I bought my mustang last week and it wouldnt idle. I started by checking all the sensors and I found that when I disconnected the MAF the car would idle close to normal. Thinking there was a faulty MAF I bought a new one, but as soon as I plugged it in the car died again. What is the deal. I tried pulling the codes, but I am not very good at it the two best matches I got were faulty DIS and EGR not opening, EGR voltage too low. any ideas where to start?

pulled it and cleaned it out with carb cleaner, may try soaking it in acetone over night, but I still dont think that is it, I should have seen an improvement from the first cleaning.

And the fact that would you imediatly fail SMOG blah blah blah... and thats not the point, it should run fine with it connected so something else is the problem.

If it runs better even for a bit with the cleaned out IAC then you know that is the problem, I had to change my IAC at 70k and havent had a problem since

if it would jump revs with the clutch in or sometimes sitting at a light it would die, esp if you tried to use accesories.. then its prob the IAC

I found the problem, there was a small vacuum hose the size of a coffee stir that had come in contact with the valve cover and melted through. the was enough hose to re-route and after I reset the idle everything is golden. Thanks guys
