Enough to run down...

A 2000 ss is rated at 320hp 345tq. It has been proven many times over that those numbers are bs. They put down that much to the wheels in stock form. A Kenny Bell @6lbs would net you about 330hp and 400 or so lbft. Then you figure in the drive train loss and the lack of traction from the instant torque and you are pretty much screwed. If you want to try it start with 300lbs of something in the trunk.lol

my 98 camaro dyno'd at 320 with a catback and CAI, but the F-body weighs at least 300lbs more than a fox. If the Kenny bell puts figuring drive train loss puts you right at 300 to the wheels. with some sticky tires and a lot of practice you should be able to run with a "stock" LS1 be it M6 or A4. The autos shift quick and hard so there isnt much of a difference in the the shift time between the two.
If you are truly serious about running down some of the big dogs then start with a wheel and suspension system that will let you put power to the ground instead of twisting the chasis and wheel hop.

I wonder how many ls1 guys come in here and laugh at the 2 threads a day asking how to beat their cars stock. The next question that should be asked is how many ls1's are bone stock? All they need is a cam and some sticky tires to ruin the day of a lot of h/c/i power adder foxes.

I aint gonna lie. If I had one I would laugh.

It will not be enough, especially the quicker you got running.

It isn't the shift time between the 4L60E and T-56, but the drivetrain rotating weight. Torque convertor, for one.

I would put that money towards a new top-end kit, with heads, cam, and intake.

Well with AFR 165, TFS1, Trickflow intake, 70mm tb, 76mm maf,24# inj, full exhaust, pulleys, and 4.10 gears...Id put around 290-300 rwhp and good tune 310 if your lucky on a good street car. We all know you can make more power with a track car, but were talking street car, that passes emissions....With KB and few bolt-ons(full exhaust,70mm tb, 90mm maf, 42#inj,pulleys etc) the KB car would put more than 320rwhp atleast and plenty of TQ...Why would the H/C/I car be faster than the KB car, when the KB car gets all the power sooner than the n/a h/c/i car getting peak power at 6k rpm? I think the KB car would run down the H/C/I car. AND if the KB car runs a H/C/I car down....and the H/C/I car runs down ls1 trans am or SS...KB>h/c/i>ls1's=kb>ls1's

I have read on here that a mustang can't beat a ls1 camaro and has no chance of ever beating a modified one:) I thought they could but I was told many times that we can't. I mean I ran a 13.4 with about 1000dollors in modifications including tires but no we can't beat a ls1 with say a hci or a supercharger

I aint sayin that, or anything like it. A stock 5.0 with a bell can't take a ls1.Sorry

It's tough for a fox to run with LS1s because they START life running low low 13s on street tires and zero mods. Add in some bolt ons and you have a solid mid 12s car. With how many HCI fox's out there not going those times on sticky tires, it's no wonder the LS1 is feared.

Exactly. A lot of people fear them because of this exact reason, and they know what they're capable of. It's very easy to run mid to low 12s in a near stock one. Then throw in a cam and a good tune and you'll make over 400rwhp and deeeep 11s. At the same time, there's a lot of people that highly underestimate them because they've run into bone stock hammered ls1s with a crappy driver and beat them in their bolt on 5.0 and now think they're slow. They just have a much better powerplant/drivetrain to build off of. But don't worry, I'm sure the ls1 guys envy us sometimes too. Yeah, they have the nasty drivetrain, but we have the better chassis imo. We can change a motor, tranny, rearend or anything else you can think of with jackstands and simple hand tools in the backyard. It takes us less than a day to change spark plugs. With a little simple weight reduction our cars can weigh 3k lbs, and even quite a bit less than that with more drastic stuff. A Stang can accept any make/size engine, tranny and rearend with little modification.

The reason why the h/c/i car would beat it, is because a KB car would not make 320rwhp, with all else being stock. Not with 6-7 psi.

It would be fairly close though. Adding 6-7 lbs of boost is not going to take you from 190 rwhp to 320 rwhp.

...........................................................................................................................

The ls1 and lt1 are quite different.:)

Different bore and stroke, and that is just the beginning. 346 cubic inches.

a 347 with a trick flow top end will eat LS1's all day long. put a blowzilla on top of that and you can finish up with SRT hemis and the LS2 for desert. of course by then you have probably put at least 6k in you engine, not to mention the suspension mods you need to keep all that power stuck to the ground.
