I have a 89 lx with a new motor that I just completed. It consists of a fresh 302, cobra GT-40 heads, b-303, cobra 1.7 rr, cobra upper and lower maniflod, 24# injectors, 73mm c&l maf, adjustable fpr, under drive pullys, cold air intake. Drive line consists of a pro 5.0 shifter 3:73s hpm mega bite jr's and an eibach drag launch kit. The best et I can cut is 13.2 @ 107 mph. I have heard people running 12.50s with the same stuff. WTF is going on here, any ideas

I've been 12.56 with only 105.8 mph trap. It's all in the tires and driving.

i have same combo but tfs heads and went 12.60 @108.5 with a 1.80 sixty on 17 inch street tires not drag radials. 26 or 28 inch slicks? 26 put it on the limiter and dump the clutch 1.7 to 1.6 sixty and you should hit your goal!

the mph is good for the combo and is certainly capable of 12.50s

are you having better luck launching down low??

if the car is bogging and dying with slicks at 4500 try lauching at 5500 or 6000.
i used to have problems gettign bad lauches, i was trying 3000-3500 and it just didnt work, one pass i gave it all and launched at 5500 and the car came alive then, then the good e/ts starting coming.

Like all others mentioned, 107mph is damn strong and well tuned for that combination. You just need to hook and shift well and you're all set.

Also 13.2 @ 107 isn't bad for street tires. Theres a little left in it on the radials with that mph, but not much. High 12s maybe, but bolt a tire on and mid 12s wouldnt be an issue.

If Irun my slicks again at tire pressure should I run? I had them t 12psi and at the 1000 ft mark the car swayed all over the place so bad I had to let out or i'd have been in the wall or in the other lane. So maybe a lil more psi and a higher launch huh??????
