EV1 harness ends

I have some broken retainer clips on my factory injector harness ends. I want to correct the condition. Instead of cutting and splicing pigtails into the harness I’m considering retaining all the factory wire and installing these (or similar) harness ends.

Have any of you used these before and have any insight? Do you have any other opinions or methods of repair to share?

Thanks for sharing those. I’m going to check the quality of the other ones I have on order to see if I like them. If they look cheesy I might order a set of these other ones and inspect for quality again

My only concern would be the elbow bootie looks kinda bulky. Might be tight in a few spots like the coolant tube / coolant sensor. Or may not be an issue at all. These look like the same thing but with rubber grommets instead of the elbow. https://www.fuelinjectorconnection.com


IMO those types of terminals are best to be carefully crimped, then soldered. When you solder them you'll want to have the fuel injector connection end pointing up so the solder doesn't run into it. If it does it won't seat right on the injector, or go on at all. The metal is so thin it doesn't have much memory and I've never felt comfortable just crimping them. But that's just me.

I'd pull the harness and restore it on my workbench.

WD40 works great to clean the connectors and harness itself.

If you want to go the pigtail route, Ron Francis has nice pigtail EV1 with 12" leads. So you'd be able to get the actual new soldered / heatshrinked connection in the harness body.

Then clean all the other connectors with contact cleaner and push some dielectric grease into them. Now you have a clean, neat and tidy 100% restored engine harness.

By the way, I already have a set of harness pigtails that have lengths of wire already on them. I’m not crazy about them because the gauge of wire on them is substantially thinner than the factory gauge wire. I’m sure they would work if I spliced them in but I’m not totally comfortable reducing the wire gauge for durability reasons

I plan on removing the injector harness to work on it on the bench for ease. I want to clean the 10 pins while I’m at it too.

Are there no pre built harnesses for these?? There must be hundreds of them built for my LS engine?? Some really cheap ones on ebay ( $100) that get some decent reviews....

the pre built harness I see on LMR and whatnot are $500. If I had no choice then maybe. But I need to mitigate expenses within reason.

My factory connections are not a total loss actually. All but one have one of the plastic clips broken off. Heck, I might even just clean the contacts and use them as is. Maybe a small dabble of silicone sealer for adhesive on the sides where the clips are broken off. I’m sure that would be fine.

My efforts in replacing the harness ends is partially for ease of service in the future.
