Every time my 5.0 get hot, I have no power...at all, please HELP!!!

ok, I know these forums are primarily for Stangs, which I have one myself, but, I am in the middle of fixing it right now. But, I have another 5.0, it just happens to be in 1985 Lincoln Mark VII LSC. It is not the ho motor and it is rated with about 165 hp. It is a throttle body fuel injection. I STILL cannot find out what in the **** is wrong with it. Every time the engine gets hot, say about 30 minutes or more of driving, there is no power, like I can't give it any gas or it dies. Before you start thinking what it could be, let me rule out what I have already done. Ok, here goes, I first thought it was the fuel system, so I put a new gas tank, fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, and replaced the filter multiple times. I also just put new injectors in. That still didn't do any good, so I figured maybe it is the electrical system. So, I bought new Bosch plugs, Bosch wires, and a new distributor cap and rotary button, and a new coil as well. Still, no help. So, then I figured it could be that the timing was off, so I went and had the timing set, still nothing. Even when it is freezing cold, I can get in it and drive it, and I have like a 1/4 of an inch throttle response from the gas pedal. I don't know what else to do. I bought a fuel pressure gauge thinking that maybe I got a bad fuel pump, I read 40 lbs even, so it ruled that out. A friend of mine thought it was losing compression, so I run a test on it. I got 100 lbs. And the recommended is somewhere around 145. I do not know what else to do. And, I have to have this car running right in order to get to work which is like 40 miles away. Somebody please help!!!

Well, I already read the codes and it acted like the computer or the reader one was messed up, it kept on rebooting the reader and saying crazt thangs. We never could get an accurate reading. Do you think the computer could just be bad altogether?? Do you think if I found another one and put it on out of a junkyard that it might help?

Nope, no cats even on the pos. I cut them off and put straight pipe in it's place. Another thing I forgot to mention is that not only while I'm going down the road it's messed up, but even in park, I still can't give it gas. It has one short rev, and then it makes this weird put-put noise and dies. Same thing as going down the road, except it intensifies when the load is bigger...ex, going up a hill. To give you an example of how bad it is, I came home tonight from work using three different highways, I did a maximum of 35 mph on the way home, it wouldn't get any faster. It probably takes me an estimate of 1 1/2 minutes to get up to 35 mph. It is horrible.

Another thing about the computer, if it is bad, and I find another one, what do I need to do to it, like, I guess the question is how do I install it? I mean, do you have to take off the battery cables and stuff like that? I really do not know how to put it in without frying something....So, I might try the computer, and if that don't work, I'm just gonna shoot the son of a B**** until it goes up in flames...lol

One more thing, while ya'll are brainstorming....just remember that the key thing that starts it acting up is #1 heat, the hotter it gets, the worse it runs, and after 30 minutes or more of driving, it is useless, it won't even go but like 10 mph. #2 is gas....the more pedal I give it, the slower it gets and the more it put-put's and finally dies. Maybe that will narrow it down to you guys' expert opinions.. Thank you for all your Help!! i think you might have Duraspark instead of TFI (Thick film ignition).

i, like Daggar, know about nill about CFI. i would chase the reason for codes being funky down. most fords have the puter in the pass kick panel (i have a resource to look it up if you cant find it).

then dont overlook the injector. as i recall, some TBI systems in general have had issues.

A buddy of mine said I do not have Duraspark, so my question is how does TFI work?? What does it involve, what pieces, and how does it run.
