I don't think it's a convertible. I think it's a vinyl top.

never really understood the whole vinyl top thing....looks retarded and isnt even functional (unless you call less rigidity functional)

I don't know if Ford ever did this ..... but ... when I was helping my Uncle restore the Chevelle, I learned something. It was originally a vinyl top car. When we removed it, there were holes here & there in the roof of the car. Turns out, GM did the vinyl top thing to the older cars that they could not get the roof to look perfect. They just covered them up. So we fixed everything in the roof & kept the top off. Then painted the car & it is amazing.

i think it's plastic too, but check out those big azz b-pillars--the coupe type.

maybe it's a special vinyl top with plastic rear window
