Will the stock pre-91 intake manifold support 12-130hp easily?

Trying to figure out why my damned car still has no power. It's a speed density with ranger header and full 2-1/4" exhaust, 5.0 air filter box and an open tube, higher compression, ranger roller cam, and I tried monkeying with the timing.

How much gain in low-end torque could I expect by advancing the cam? how much would I want to advance?

What about upgraded ignition, will an MSD coil alone make a significant improvement or would I need their ignition module as well?

I ran the time's listed in my sig on pretty much stock motor just turned the boost up a little and opened the exhaust. The intakes are from the 89 and are stock.

i run a speed density motor also and what i think you need to do is port the head. there is a ridge on the intake side that you'll need to do some porting with.then you should feel some more power. also raise your fuel pressure and yes put on a better coil with some 9mm wires.

I really should of done the head porting when I had the motor apart, I didn't want to spend the money on it, as it is I'm not taking the engine apart again... so it is gonna have to be bolt ons

guess I'll put an MSD coil on there when I have the money for it and if that doesn't do something noticeable I'm just not gonna piss away anymore money on a 2.3 motor.

I couldn't tell any difference in power taking it up higher. It ran fine at 10 and it ran fine at 20. I just set it at 16 BTC to be safe and went back to 87 octane. I will try again after I got a better coil on there.

What cam are you using?
