Why do strait through mufflers sound bad when cold, then sound awesome when they warm up. I didn’t notice this when I had my flowpaths but with the maganpacks there is a big difference when they are cold, I would assume it would be the same for SLP and Borla Stingers.

They are very poppy (raspy) on hard acceleration for the first few minutes before they warm up and sound good. Once warm they scream and sound good through all RPMs.

mine sound a lot different when cold. i have Spintech mufflers, have no idea which model they were on the car when i bought it, and a Bassani O/R X. a lot raspier when cold, i like it a lot better when its raspy like that. hopefully will be switching to Borla mufflers when i get around to calling them up and harrassing them for stingers.

This probably has more to do with the Open/Closed loop running with the O2 sensors.

I don't think the heat of the mufflers would be able to change any of the sound.

Mine are louder (dynomax), that's about it.

My truck is louder when its cold but when the motor and the tips heat up it changes the sound alot, not alot of cackle after about 5-10 min.

Yup, thats about the same time it takes mine to warm up. After 5 min. they sound awesome.

WHen the engine is cold, it uses different fuel and timing tables. This is what changes the exhaust note slightly.



I think my flowmasters sound much better when the engine is still cold. Much more crisp.
