Just wondering if any of you have exhaust cutoffs. My buddy was going t oget them on his 01 GT but the guy that runs the local muffler shot talked him out of it because he sait that the computer wouldnt know what to do when the cutoffs were open?. is that true?

If anyone has then how do you like them?
Have you had any problems?
Are they loud or really loud!?

Bogus. Just make sure the cutoffs are after the O2 sensors and you are good to go.

As far as the computer is concerend this would be the same as running an O/R H-Pipe and extremely high flow mufflers...

Anyone try the powered ones that you can open while driving... that would be cool as everyone flinches when you pass them...

I ran my car for a couple minutes with open headers when I had the x-pipe off after doing the T5 swap. Damn it was loud and it actually didn't sound crappy like some cars with cutouts. I was thinking about those electric cutouts but I can't see myself spending $600 with installation.

I was looking at those QTP motorized cutouts a while back. I'm not sure how it would sound, since it is not a true flow diverter, but more of an flow bleed-off valve (i.e. some of your exhaust can still go through the exhaust system, so you don't get a true open headers sound.

i got my cutouts from JEGS for about 35 bucks a peice(give or take)
i have an offroad bbk X pipe, and the cutouts are mounted right under the seats, just before the X. its a pain in the ass getting down and opening/closing them, but i will tell you....they are LOUD. if i have them open and i get a call on the cell, or go through a drivethrough, i have to turn the car off to hear.....but i love them, they are a lot of fun, and i could tell a slight performance increase. not much at low end power, but more at high.
i actually have a video of my car idling and revving up with the caps off, so if u want it pm me and ill send it to you

I think I saw some remote cable operated cut-offs once. Would that be cheaper than the power operated version that people are talking about? Maybe someone could post a link if you have it, I cant remember where I saw the one I am thinking of.

I've run just no catback a time or two in the different stangs ive had... and i finally went with 1 chamber flowmasters... they are the same screaming loud, but they sound better... i had them dumped, but put the tailpipes back on after i got tired of not being able to talk on my cell phone in the car... much better inside the car with tails

some people called the cops on me with just headers on once..

im kind of getting burnt out on loud as hell exhaust though, but if you really want loud, get 1 chambers or Borla XR-1's... they sound great on our cars... JMO
