Exhaust flow question for 2.3T

I just today put on a 3" downpipe and 3" magnaflow with a turndown and wow the car feels completely differen't the top end feels about twice as fast, lol. However the car resonates because of the turndown and is a bit deafening while cruising. How restrictive would it be If I added a 2.5" mandrel bent pipe from the magnaflow to the back of the bumper, basically a 5.0 drivers side rear pipe that goes over the axle and out the back. Would the power loss be significantly noticable?

If there was a power loss at all, you probably wouldn't notice it. Should quiet it down too. It sounds like you did everything right except for the Magnaflow! Unless it's the Race series I don't think it's a straight thru design. The Dynomax Ultraflow is straight through and much quieter than the Mag Race series. You will more than likely notice a 'seat of the pants' power difference just by swapping in the Dynomax.

Or you can run a hooker maximum flow, which is $12 cheaper than an ultraflow but the exact same design ;)

I know what you mean about the resonance from the turndowns, that's mainly what prompted me to get rid of mine (well that and inspection)-- every time I went down a hill it gave me a headache. ugh!

like stated a tail would cause such a little loss you wouldnt see it. but what ever you decide stay with straight thru mufflers....but as a rule of thumb for a turbo car the best exhaust is no exhaust at all.

Kennebell If you are looking for a drivers side tail pipe, you should go in half with me. We'll buy the 3" Mac cat back. Its what I have on my green coupe and very easy to work with.

You get the drivers side and I'll take the pass. side.
