Exhaust for a 2.3L NA

<-------- :p Everyone says no backpressure kills power, they're right. But the thing is slow anyway, loud cars are cool.

Seriously though, Alot of fo seem to like fake dual exhaust pipes. I need more than dual exhaust to make me look cool, so I never saw the point behind them. Dynomax superturbo mufflers are highly regarded as well. I've always liked dynomax, though I've never heard a 2.3 with one. I can't imagine how honky a blowmaster would sound. I'd probably go with two inch if my stang still ran, and I got a "real" exhaust system put on it. If you're gonna get a whole new system you might want to look into a long tube header instead of the ranger piece. I belive Pacesetter makes one. I'd probably go with 2", maybe 2 1/4" that'd be pretty big though. What do I know though?

well I guess it all depends on your power ambitions. I personally would use a single 2 1/2" into a dynomax race magnum muffler and dump it. that would sound mean and flow up to about 250 hp or so with little problems. On a N/A 2.3 build that would be a hard target to reach ;) so you should be ok.

If you wanna put in a V8 anyway, why bother with exhaust now? Might as well save the money.

I agree if your going to turbo it or V-8 it I would just leave it alone unless its falling apart right now. If you really must have a exhaust, I wouldn't go any bigger than a 2 1/4 with a single pipe, high flow cat, high flow muffler and delete the pre cat if its got one. Now if you can get a ranger header use it I've heard good things on a 2.3L with one. As for duels, I love duels my self but I couldn't get past the fact that it would be fake and a waste of money so I went single pipe on my N/A 2.3L. It took some time to get uses to but it really don't look to bad.

All I did on my 2.3 NA is put on a ranger header, and a Dynomax Super Turbo. I think the Super Turbo has a 2 1/4 inlet/outlet instead of just the 2, I just used adapters. As for power, big difference, it just has a lot more torque (a lot compared to before). Also, it sounds great, its not loud when crusing, but it does have a nice low mellow sound. I really recomend it.
