i have a 98 gt that im wanting to do a new exhaust setup on. wanting to run bkk o/r x pipe with flowmaster 10 series and new pre bent over the axle tail pipes. my question is if anyone has done this setup will i be able to just weld the mufflers right up to the tail pipes or will i have to throw a bit of pipe in to get it to fill any space? thanks

The mufflers should be able to weld into place without any modifications

You will most likely since they are a much shorter muffler. I have them on my 64 Ranchero and I had to add atleast 6 or 7 inches of pipe to fill the gap left.

I didn't notice that you were referring to the 10 series. You might need a little fab work because they are pretty small compared to the standard muffler size.

BTW, Im sure that you've done your homework on that setup but you do know that an O/R pipe and 1 chambers is going to be INSANELY loud right?

@azmustang, yea i was thinkin it maybe a few inches or around there but not sure if i should do the center in and out or the offset muffler, thinkin the center would be easier with adding pipe should line straight up?

and yea nitefire iv been lookin at alot of diff setups to do. the car has an o/r h pipe with flowmaster 40s now (was on wen i got the car), and its just to quite to me ha..plus i dont like the sound of h pipes on 4.6's..h pipes are more a 5.0 thing in my opinion. haha but yea i know it will be crazy loud, thats wat im goin for

I have the jegs O/R X and flowmaster 40's... It's almost too loud. What ever you do, do a cat back... Mine are weld in's and they have too much mettalic sound... I think it's partially from the tubing going from 2.5 to 2.25 then flows, then 2.25 to the tips...

Tubing diameter, especially a 1/4" difference, is not going to affect sound or performance. IMO, unless you're looking for shiny new pipes that no one ever sees, catback systems are a waste of money.
