Nope....

Stock loudest

Shorty quiet

Long most quiet

Pretty sure it's something to do with the way the air is routed to a collector?

My SLPs sounded like ASS until I installed my T/Ls... it toned the exhaust down just enough to make the setup sound good.

i'm still not convinced
heres stock manifold, o/r x pipe, stock mufflers
YouTube - 2007 Mustang GT S197 No Cats, Mac X Pipe, Stock Mufflers

and heres LT's, o/r x pipe, stock mufflers
YouTube - 07 Mustang GT longtube headers, no cats

it's from a s197, but principle should be the same. the LT's do make it deeper, and it sounds louder too.

That's also two different cameras, at two different distances, haha. That's not a good way to judge sound.

Like others have mentioned, switch to a MAC Catback - it sounds great paired with a Prochamber. I currently run an O/R Prochamber and MAC Catback - and it has been my favorite setup thus far. I've also had two different sets of LT's, and various Midpipe/Catback combos. Again as others have said, the LT's definitely make the sound deeper but NOT louder. My current combo with stock manifolds is louder than any of my LT setups were.

I like prochambers too, but my fear was they wern't loud enough. So i went with MAC normal O/R H.. And MAC mufflers. i won't have it any other way.

skip about 2minutes or so until you see my stang, the black edge. My friends fox sounds nice too, he's got 40s with Catted H

I think it sounds real good, definately nice tone and seems to be just loud enough. I wouldn't want it too loud that I couldn't have a conversation inside while driving around and especially at highway speed.

The balcony video sounds good, has a nice throaty tone.
Like someone said it will get a bit louder after a while, mine did.
To me tone is more imporant than raw volumne.

i said i really like the tone. i want it to be louder though. Im not doing anything till after christmas because of money, and i figure that will be more than enough time to break them in, i have a 350 mile drive home. I will see after that if i want to move forward. I just dont know if i should go o/r H or X if i want to switch.

say if you blow thru a trumpet, then blow harder, it's louder. just seems that more air going thru makes it louder.

This train of logic is so flawed that it hurts to think about where to start correcting it. Do some research on sound power vs sound pressure vs particle velocity vs particle displacement at variable temperatures, for a start. And get your assumptions correct. Is the engine going to "blow" exhaust into the headers with greater force just because the longtubes have less resistance to flow (in theory you would argue that longtubes allow better flow)? I'll save you the research on that one - no.

so your saying that lt's dont improve flow? i never knew you gained hp by restricting exhaust flow

I just got my MAC longtubes, MAC o/r prochamber, and borla stingers installed and i must say i really like the tone of the exhaust but it isnt as loud as i hoped overall since i dont have the cats anymore. When i at WOT it sounds amazing and is pretty loud but at cruising speeds and a normal acceleration im not as satisfied as i hoped.

When watching youtube and reading posts about everything i thought the prochamber was really good. After buying it when i would continue reading forums i saw a couple people say they think the prochamber was too quiet for them. i started second guessing myself if i went the right way.

My question is would an o/r X or o/r H be better for me. I still want it to sound good but i want it to be loud. from earlier readings i remember something about since its the borla muffler is a straight through design to not go with an H. I would like it to rumble though and that comes with more with the H than an X. Im not opposed to the X pipe if it will still sound pretty good and be louder. Please list your opinions.

Im only looking to change my mid-pipe though. If you think that there is something else that might be a problem that i can fix myself to maybe make it louder like maybe an exhaust leak let me know. Also if you have heard my setup in person and think that it is loud compareable to other exhaust and i just have wishful thinking let me know that too. With just changing the mid-pipe i would do the install myself.

Sorry for the long post i just wanted to let you know of everything i know about the topic so you can better inform me. thank you.

take the mufflers off and run the prochambers, and then listen to it, my buddys got a 95 5.0gt with the prochambers and flowmasters. sounds queit at idle, but rather loud under accelaration. checkout my exhaust set-up, its rather loud at idle, and under acceleratiion, and wot.

Longtubes make the exhaust quieter at lower rpms and louder at high rpms. Imagine that you have the same exhaust flow, but longtubes have more area inside the exhaust than a stock manifold.(like the difference between blowing air through a straw or paper towel roll). Loudness will decrease and it will sound deeper. At a high rpm, pushing out more air, longtubes will have an advantage.
