Exhaust leak

would an exhaust leak between the maniford and an off road MAC h-pipe cause the exhaust to sound louder than it is, or will it just make that horribly *****ty sounding noise and nothing else?

I've had one: it might make a ticking sound at low to mid rpms, then louder at high rpms, with loss of power, and backfiring during deceleration. It's quite noticable and annoying.

i was just wondering if it makes the exhaust seem louder than it really is, it is driving me nucking futs

It sounded louder in the front--not the back. I had a hole in my firewall for gauge lines that had not been plugged at the time, so I'm sure I heard it more clearly than I would have otherwise. It was annoying enough that I did something about it within a week--for the power loss if nothing else!

what do you mean when you say it's louder than it really is...? Is it just to volume? or the tone of it?

Anyhow, I've experience exhaust leak before.. it will either make ticking sound when engine is under load and/or hissing sound..
