Anyone else notice a exhaust odor with their 05 GT? Mine has a smell that was described by a passenger as "sewer gas" Myself, I feel that the cats are not up to spec or it is overly rich. Anyone else?

every car I have had in the past few years has had this odor but it is usually just for a few seconds everyonce in a while, it is not a constant smell.

Is the car new? When mine was new I also noticed a similar smell. I thought it smelled kind of like a burning clutch but both the dealer and members of stangnet told me it was the Ford undercoating burning off. Some said it would go away in a few days and some said a few hundred miles but it didn't go completely away for weeks. I broke the car in hard too.

I had the same problem jlisle01 had. It would smell almost like I had burnt the clutch every time I got out of the car. It went away after a few weeks though.

Sewer gas , sulfur smells are an indication that the cats are going bad. We have had this discussion several times on the F150 board. Just bring into the dealer and tell them, they should replace the cats.

if it is new, it could be the dressing that they spray on the engine to make it shine. it could be burning off of the manifolds.....
