I'm in a pickle, i have enough money to buy one but not both! I can either buy a set of mac dual exhaust for my 2000 v6 stang, or i can get a diablo chip? I'm not sure which one i want exactly because all my buds tell me my car sounds like a 2 cylinder compared to their 5.7L V8 slow chevy trucks, but then again i want to get a little further in front of them everytime they try to race me at the light or on the interstate. Help me choose here guys. I also had the choice of buyin a Bushmaster M4 Type but i decided my car was more important! I have enough guns

um, well i am assuming your care is stock as of now... so getting a chip now = teh useless
if you are going to get a chip, it should be after you have made changes to the engine, such as underdrive pulleys, cai, and other junk, not sure if it would help after changing the rerar gear ratio...
so i would go with the exhaust, with, yes, gives you a bit more kick as well =D

Wait on the chip b/c thats what you will need programmed to account for any gear changes in your 2000. The basic UDP, dual exhaust, cai kit is always a good baseline to begin your modding.

I'd say save some money and get GT Takeoff Duals. Also, like everyone said, don't get a chip yet.

Well, my Cobra Take-offs honestly sound better than any other V6 I've heard in person, so I wouldn't think the GT's would be THAT much different.

Well, a fairly knowledgeable member of 3.8mustang.com told me that I 'essentially have GT take-offs." He said that other than slightly different mufflers they are the same as the GT exhaust during the 94-99 years.

I have Cobra exhaust, as well. 2.25" Stainless Steel everything from a '94 Cobra Pace Car. Sounds great in my opinion (good rumble down low and doesn't sound ricey like most 6's do up top). Oh, and no custom fab since its from a pre-99 Cobra.

So then you essentially have GT takeoffs. Pre-99 Cobras had the same exhaust as the GTs. The only difference was the mufflers. I think they were different from the GTs to get a different exhaust note.

Whatever the case may be, of the many V6 mustangs I have heard in person with Flows or whatever other high-flow performance exhaust they had, they have all sounded good down low, but HORRIBLE at anything above idle. So, knowing that mine doesn't sound like that and the GT take-offs are similar AND cheap, that is what I advise and what I would buy if I didn't get my Cobra exhaust for free. For some reason, our cars just don't take well to high-flow exhaust systems, so for the sake of those around you, don't buy a high-performance system unless you can make sure it doesn't sound like every other system I've heard.

i LOVE my mac duals, exactly the way i want them to sound, and the look awesome =D, i STILL have to get a fricken sound clip! the exhaust paired with the chirp of the CAI is exactly what i want out of my daily driving expierience =D, and i still stand by the fact that my car sound better than some GTs around my town. i was doing this 'sidewalk sale' which is where many of the shops in town set up canvas thingies, and sell some of their merchandise, and i was working it for my mom, so i got a ride down their with her, and i sat their all day selling jewelry. cars came and went, (its a VERY busy town, the traffic is crazy, but you wouldnt guess it, everyone who sees it thinks its 'quant.' so anyway, the 94-98 GTs arent terribly loud at all it seems, their was a small hill next to my tent, about a 15 foot elevation over 50+ plus feet, all estimated, lol, and i would listen to the mustangs as they drove up this little incline. then my dad came to help me out, but in my car! but damn did it sound good going up that hill
omg i rant SOOO MUCH, but thats what i do after 12, sorry folks

Actually, that proves my point. Slightly different mufflers on an otherwise identical system will not sound "that much different," like I said. Oh, and factory mufflers won't sound raspy and retardedly loud which is what sounds TERRIBLE on V6's.
