whats the most cheapest thing i can do to my exhaust? cut the cats out and just weld in straight pipe? its a stock 5.0 V8 and im looking for performance

gut dont cut........cop looks under your car and sees no "cats" than you dont have 250 bucks anymore.

Gut the cats, look in the classifides for some used mufflers.

Depends on what the rules are and how strict they are enforced. I dont have cats on mine, its not really looked for here, there is no state inspection.

is there a how to anywhere to gutting cats? what should i look for when looking for used mufflers?
