Hey all...its been sometime since i picked up a catback exhaust about 20 years!I have a 89 GT with the american Thunder kit from flow. I just recently did a whole overhaul new block .30 over and a trick flow top end kit while im at it I figured lets change exhaust, Hpipe and shortys already on it too. So I know it preference but what will sound just nasty really set off the cam. Flowmaster said I have the 40's now and they make a super 44 which is deeper. but what else is out there? MAC sound good? Any ideas would help alot.

can't go wrong with bassani, as it sounds great and they have the more budget friendly BX series now

flows don't really flow that well and youtube will be your best friend! I personally want spintechs or bassani race!

If you're tired of the Flomaster sound, then don't buy a Mac exhaust. They sound nearly identical. I've had both. Both utilize a chambered muffler design. Go with something with a straight through design like the Bassani suggested above, or even Magnaflow, or Borla. They're a little more expensive, but they're a better exhaust system.

I called a few place and they all told me stick with flowmasters! They said pypes would be insanely loud and Mac is tinny. Really I said I wanted different! What yas think?

I agree with the Magnaflow recommendation. All stainless construction, nice sound.

Magnaflows are like stock, in the sense that they don't bellow and drone like the flowmasters, but they're still a fair clip more muscular sounding than stock. SLP are nice too, although I would recommend the Loudmoth 2 mufflers. The original Loudmouth mufflers will make your car sound like an old pickup truck.

Another recommendation would be a set of Spintech's. They're a little on the loud side, but they're certainly different than your Flomasters.

Do you have a catted pipe or going catless? It will impact the overall sound. I have magnaflow and LOVE them, installed a magnaflow CB on three other 5.0's but they had cats still so the sound is much different than mine.

the pypes stainless system looks to be good quality. I have never heard it in person. They had a set up at a car show I was at last year and if I had the cash I would have scooped it up.

I have the trick flow heads, shorty headers, basanni x without cats and magnaflow CB. I know its not the best recording as it was done on my iPhone, but it gives you an idea.

Thanks for the videos! I'm torn now. The bassani tech gave me a lesson about absorption and chambered mufflers. Make a long story short. Mac, flow and another ( can't remember) will sound the same. Bassani, and borla are straight through. They complimented magnaflow and said they are great but bassani are throatier. Now intruding spin techs and slp loudmouth. Even harder decision.
