Is there a noticeable difference between buying a catback or buying mufflers and tips and taking it to a shop to have done? Ive already got headers and an o/r h pipe

Well, I have a pacesetter o/r Hpipe and it had to be cut and custom pipes had to be made from there back to my flowmasters... So far I like it more than anything and it doesn't sound like any other mustang

If you are talking about having a shop do a cat-back for you then yes you are better off just buying one. Most shops compression bend pipe and if you went with 2.5in pipe it would probably be smaller than 2.25in when they made the bend to go over the axle. I would buy a good cat-back and throw it on.

You mean buying the 2.5" flowtubes, mufflers and tailpipes and having a shop weld them on... must be for a muffler that does not offer a catback...?

I would say it is the same, jsut maybe more $$ due to the shop labor... the price of the components will be about the same as doing a catback...

I baught my flowmasters for $90 a piece and the exhaust shop bent the rest [midpipes and tails] for $220. All mandrel bends.

Its all about the flow

The more the flow ... the more gain a better exhaust will give

however ... keep this in mind

I've seen guys come on these boards with full tilt strokers and report a gain of only 10rwhp when moving from stock to aftermarket catback

Catbacks just ain't a big gain mod

On a mild combo, a difference in pipe size or a pipe bent with a wrinkle or two is not gonna make a huge difference.

As always, all of the little bits can add up to make a difference and everyone has to make up their own mind if the gain justifies the buck spent
