alright to start off .... v6 3.8 yall know that right?? so i couldn't decide b/c id never heard either... glassbacks/straight pipes... im 16 and knew i wanted somthin deep and sort of loud... my friend said straights would "scare little kids" so i like this more.... dont' ask y i listened to him... straights were $250
glassbacks were $189.... idk if its "glassbacks" or "glasspacks" so w/e... ne way i got the straights and it sounds great idling and when its in drive at low rpm's (under 2300) but about 3500 rpm it gets too loud, high pitched, and starts popping.... idk wut to do to fix it.. maybe mufflers??? idk gimme opinions and what yall think i should do... and its a 5 spd so it does sound decent/ i can control the sound... oh yeah and what do yall think/ know about intakes... i need one with an o2 sensor and what do yall know about hp improvement if any???

fresh meat!
lol, as for exhaust, everyone will jump on in with their answers, if im not mistaken, straight pipes are basically illegal, lol, and they dont sound that greap IMO, and glasspacks are meant to deffen certain sound, so w/e, i love my MAC dual catback exhuaust, sounds GREAT throughout the RPM range!
and for intake, get the cheap-o ebay CAI, you wont need to replace anything unless u break ure 02 sensor or something (be carefull its fragile) and dont expect more than like, 3-4 hp out of that, although some of them tend to give the exhaust a different tune, and mine chirps a bit when i hit high RPMs (hottness)
somebody run the list of common bolt ons for me!
i am going to keep my gears the same for a while, so ill also hold off for the T-lock, U/d pulleys are most likely next... who knows!

nothing will sound great on a v6, just cut off the Y pipe, the part where the pipes merge into one single pipe, cut before they merge but AFTER THE CATS and have an exhaust shop custom fab a mandrel bent exhaust 2.25 stainless steel pipe system or buy a gt take off and have them fab a connection and put it on.

run the stock gt mufflers and see if you like them, mellow tone is how to go, if you have a shop fab up the exhaust look into a low tone muffler, spin tech has a direct bolt on system if you dont want to make it true dual so do many other places i perfer true dual though.

there is no need for a balance pipe on a v6, its even fire so you dont need any sort of pipe to balance the exhaust flow.

from what i have gathered as far is information is with a V6, straight pipes will be loud and obnoxious, not sound good, but really loud. to get the "V8 rumble" you cant have your car too loud, or it will sound like a 6 not an 8...you cant get the same sound as an 8 no matter what so thats why you need to tone it down a bit.......i hope this made sense

maybe it did, maybe it didnt,
at most times, my car sounds better than GTs of my year with average use on them, if we really get on it and compare at high RPMs my car still sounds damn good and loud, but looses the rumble that the 8 gets to keep all the way through thr RPM range....
Mac dualies 4ever!

go and buy a pair of 2 chamber Flowmasters, and have an exhaust shop cut the Y, and run the pipes. (oh yeah, it's "glasspacks")
