Between 2.5 and 3, no noticeable difference. If you go from like 2.5 to 5, you may notice a hollower sound, but tips make very little difference at all in the overall sound.

Yea, they do come with 3 stock. He probably pieced together a catback or something and used whatever tips were laying around and they happened to be 2.5 or something.

close, previous owner had dumped bullets on the car. where i bought the car from ran the exhaust out the back with the 2.5" tips.

would 3.5" look a lot better than 3" ??

well, tips do affect sound somewhat, but i doubt a subtle change in size will affect anything. i took my 3.5" slp tips off to give them a good cleaning, and the car was louder, but just a bit. sounds better with the tips on

My old Cobra came with 2.25"tips, which i switched for a flowmaster catback and o/r h pipe w/ 2.5 inch all the way back.

I then put on 3.5" tips. It gave the car a noticably different sound. Much more bass and just a different lower tone at all rpms. It was really nice!! But that is a pretty big size increase

I have 3.5in tips and they are perfect. They fill up the cut outs perfect but to answer your question NO the tips will not change the tone or sound.

I actually noticed a difference in sound when I put on larger rolled tips. It gave it a slightly deeper sound. My friend who had a Z28 got similar tips and said people noticed it sounded different too.
