Read a bunch of post concerning exhaust sound and volume but I'm still confused. I current have BBK shortys, Mac X pipe and mufflers w/ no cats. While it sounds good it's cop calling loud and has more of that high sports car tone. I'm looking for a little deeper and lower old muscle car tone. Can I get that with just a muffler swap or do I need to swith to an H pipe too??

H-pipe will make it a lil louder... get a X-pipe with cats... and change your mufflers... Flowmaster makes a 3 chamber witch will quite it down... but you didnt say what kind of mufflers you are running... but really all you need to do is change your muffler out for another that muffs it more! and CATs if you want to quite it up alot more!

Mufflers are Mac too. I also don't want to hurt performance and since I'm in one of the few state that doesn't have emissions testing, screw the Greenies I'm leaving that cats off!!!

Sounds like it's not too late to save you. Just eat the cow man!!!!!

How's your idle with the #18 cam and 1.7 rockers? I've got a TF stage 1 w/ 1.7's (cam specs are similar). Going to do an intake swap this weekend and I'm trying to decide if I should change to 1.6's.

I 2nd the borlas, they are expensive, but you get what you pay for. NO drone at all, even with h/c/i and no cats, at WOT, it screams hardcore.

Id either go Borla or Magnaflow.

Generally the H will get you the lower "muscle car" sound. The X is more of a raspy NASCAR sound at higher RPM. If thats the answer your looking for

I had Mac Longtubes, Mac Prochamber, and Flowmasters and it sounded good. Then got a Mac catback, and it got deeper and maybe a little louder. Then got a set of catted pipes (no crossover so seperate exhausts on either side) and it was louder than the Prochamber, and had a growl to it (similar to an 05-06 with exhaust).

Now I have a VRS off road X, and Spintechs on their way. Should be nice and raspy!
