ok, i am looking for suggestions for an axle back kit, one that DOES NOT have the dreaded "interior drone" around 1500-2000 rpms. i am open to all suggestions. i have even thought about putting an "X" pipe on with the factory mufflers, to see how that sounds. let's hear the suggestions. but i have to keep the cats, so removing them is out. anybody running the mufflers from the Power Pack kit? they are supposed to be "throatier" than factory. i am sure someone makes some that don't have the interior drone...
thanks

Corsas. I had them fitted to mine. Picked them up for about $520. Zero drone. Throaty at the top end. I took mine off to fit some that DID drone slightly because I get bored by the absence of a little resonance.

SLP is good but as for Drone i don't know. I guess Cosas or Bassani? I'm not really sure. I just got use to it. But it got way worse once i put on headers.

SLP drones at 78mph, that's it. Other than that, it's the best exhaust system out there!

the drone i am speaking of is when you are in 5th gear, around 1500-2000 rpm at about 55-60 mph, and you go to pull a little hill without downshifting. we were running the FRPP Stingers and they droned like crazy like this, hence the reason they are off now and we are looking for more exhaust. i saw today Edelbrock now makes an axle back for the 05+ mustang, anybody run these? how about Bassani, Magnaflow, JBA, Flowmaster, Dynomax? i am also considering the FRPP X pipe to go with it also...

The drone is awesome. I can get some drone with my Dynomax Ultra Flo mufflers, but its not loud enough and doesn't cover a wider RPM range.

I'm really happy with my FRPP mufflers (M-5230-GTA). They are the ones used on the Shelby GT-H and have a nice tip on them much larger than stock but not too outlandish.

Very good deep tone and louder than stock, but not going to get you pulled over by the law. They are listed as 50-State Legal. And, no drone (resonance) that I can hear at any RPM.

I agree on the SLP comment. No drone at idle at all.

I have the Bassani Axle back system and I am really happy with it so far. People compliment this setup all the time. These have very little drone at all except between 1500-2000 rpms in 5th gear. The Bassani's are the way to go and they have a unique sound that sounds much better than flowmasters. This is just my opinion of course but I say go with the Bassani axle backs and order them from rpmoutlet.com

The Corsa are the way to go if you don’t want the dreaded drone. I have a pair I am going to sell if anyone is interested. I had them on for about 3 months and loved the sound. I recently installed Kooks L/T headers with their X-pipe and it changed the tone on the Corsa’s and made them a little raspy sounding so I am putting the stock ones back on till I decide what new ones to go with.

Man you live in Winston Salem? I have a pair of Bassani axlebacks I will sell you if you are interested. They sounded great, I just wanted something louder. We could get together and swap them out one weekend if you'd like, as I live over in Greensboro.

Geez, you have one heck of a drive to work!

I have pictures of the Bassanis here, and since I won't have to ship them, $280 would work for me. What I ended up sticking with is the Pypes Violators, they were the good balance between Fing loud and nice tone. I had the Loudmouths on there with my current setup, and UNHOLY is the best description I can come up with about that combo...Check the link in my sig, it chronicles everything I have had on my car.

Best Exhaust

Without a doubt.......SLP Loudmouths......if you are going for the old school muscle car sound then these are the ones you want! Simple as that.

Thats a hell of a deal for Bassani! Jump on it man! I get compliments everyday with my Bassani Axle back. I even set off car alarms in my parking garage. Like Sarasotsstang said they drone a little here and there but not bad.

I tried the SLPs also, and holy crap, there was a drone so bad it literally gave me a headache after driving around town all day. However! I also had those coupled with a catless X pipe and long tube headers. They are still sitting in my garage because one day I would like to try them with high flow cats
