Well my buddy owns an 00 v6 vert, we put on a mac (fake) dual exhuast setup, basicly a reverse Y pipe to duals out. Upon closer inspection i see that ford did the job for the v6 croud by running *true duals* halfway down the car with a 4 cat (2 either side) setup. My question is:

`1: Your aloud to modify your ehxuast after the emissions equipment correct?

if so: running true duals would be legal and easy!

cutt of the factor Y, and have the muffler shop pipe in to the already hanging dual mufflers. What do you think? Am i far off im my emissions thinking?

No, you're not off at alll.
That's actually what most people here have done.
Saw off the y, and run a pipe for each bank.

You're in the Nazi state when it comes to emissions, but I know here in Fl. most people get away with gutting and sometimes even losing, the cats. Hell, I can't look for a 5.0 down here without seeing "Offroad H-pipe" in the ad. But that would sound like crap on a V6 anyway, so it doesn't really matter.

Here are some pics of my 2001's system.
I used an H-pipe to cutdown on the sound just a bit. It's still pretty loud though.
Any exhaust shop that know's what they're doing can do what you want.

Awesome, pretty much what i had envisioned in my head. We'll probly put the header's on today ..see how it sounds, its decent we wont mess with it much more. If not we'll take a drive and see what the local exhaust shop has to say. Thanks for the info!

clean , very clean. I like the idea of the X-pipe , makes things simpler in this current situation. Anyone have some sound clips? after putting a full Mac exhuast on another friends 94gt (shorty eqls, prochamber, flowpath catback) it was amazing what the prochamber did for tonality, kinda hoping getting rid of the stock y will help out in the same way.
