If the goal is to have the engine look as stock as possible, is it better to have an Explorer GT40 intake without EGR so the EGR plate from the original intake will be in the correct place?

A lot of the restriction in the stock intake is in the lower so you could just have that ported.

I would go with the Explorer though if it were me. It flows way better than the stock intake ever will and looks kinda stock. Do you plan on changing the heads at some point in the future?

No the 94-95 GTs had external EGRs with the tube that went to the headers. What I mean by internal is the EGR gas passages. The valve will be external of course.

You can tell if it has the internal EGR by the small hole in the center of the lower and upper intake where they meet.
