hey guy I found 97 explorei was gona take the heads and intake off,or should I just get the whole engine, is the explorer short block better than a normal short block in the mustangs
It's about the same really. They tend to have not been as abused as a mustang engine though. No 5000 RPm launches and such. Just need to inspect thouroughly to make sure you don't get one where the owner believes in 15k oil changes in conventional oil
Some of the Mustang bottom end assemblies are better in my opinion because some of them have forged pistons. Bare block no big difference but if its a factory assembly in good condition from a Mustang with TRW forged pistons, thats a primo stock assembly.
