I got an export brace, and I'm trying to figure out how to take off the existing extensions from the shock tower. Are there a couple of spot welds or something? All I can really see is gobs of what looks like seam sealer, but it's pretty hard. Or do you just leave the stubs underneath the export brace?

Yep. two or three spot welds. Once off, weld the holes filled again. Some just leave those parts on.

I sanded down the paint lightly (don't make it smooth) to find where the spotwelds were. Then I used Eastwoods spotweld remover to remove the welds. Rocked the piece back and forth (to break it loose) in case you don't cut all the way through -it's not tough.

Or you can use a drill-bit, but you may find more use with this cutter later. Fairly cheap too.

Using the spotweld cutter I don't have to weld holes, I can just use filler to fill in the low spots and sand it down real quick. (no big deal either way)

I just left mine on. Most cars I see are like that. I figured it doesn't hurt anything to leave them.
